Brazil approves ISS tax break for firms tied to 2027 Women's World Cup
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed Complementary Law 232/26, granting an exemption of the Municipal Services Tax (ISS) to companies involved in organizing the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The exemption will only take effect after approval by municipal legislatures in each host city—Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Recife, Salvador, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre—and will run for the same period as the federal incentives granted for the tournament.
The legislation originated from an executive proposal (PLP 55/26) and was reported by Deputy Laura Carneiro (PSD‑RJ), who highlighted the event as a historic milestone for women’s football in South America. The competition is scheduled for 24 June to 25 July 2027.
