Brazil approves national science, technology and innovation strategy through 2034
Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) issued Portaria No 10.226 on 28 March, formally adopting the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation covering 2024‑2034. The strategy sets the primary planning framework for public policies, programmes and projects in the sector over the next decade.
A follow‑up Action Plan for 2027‑2031 will be drafted within 120 days, detailing concrete initiatives, targets and implementation steps. A dedicated working group, coordinated by the ministry’s executive secretariat and including members of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), will oversee the plan’s development and ensure coordination across the national science, technology and innovation system.
