Itajaí receives Chinese delegation to discuss technology and health investments

A Chinese business delegation from the Huangpu District in Guangzhou recently visited Itajaí, Santa Catarina, to explore strategic investments in technology, medical technology, and biomedicine. The visit follows a 2025 commercial mission led by Mayor Robison Coelho. While no contracts have been signed, a joint technical working group has been established to map investment opportunities and support the city's goal of creating an international health hub in its Innovation District.

Separately, law enforcement agencies in Brazil have conducted several operations across different states. In Santa Catarina, authorities seized over 5 tons of frozen shrimp valued at approximately R$ 780,000, which were being transported irregularly without proper documentation or refrigeration. In Lajeado, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized hundreds of electronic cigarettes and weight-loss medications. In Maringá, Paraná, police recovered 380 kg of marijuana and three firearms hidden in a boat's false bottom. Additionally, highway patrols in Mato Grosso reported numerous traffic violations and the seizure of narcotics during weekend operations.
