Brazil authorities seize drugs and illegal weight loss medications

Brazilian authorities have conducted several significant seizures of illegal goods transported from Paraguay. In Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, the Receita Federal seized 280 ampoules of weight loss medication hidden in a false compartment within a motorcycle's air filter. The vehicle, bearing Paraguayan plates, was being operated by a Paraguayan mototaxista who was taken into custody by the Federal Police.

In a separate incident on the BR-153 highway in Ourinhos, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) intercepted a vehicle containing 130 kilograms of marijuana. Three Paraguayan women were arrested after admitting they were hired to drive the rented vehicle to São Paulo.

Additionally, the PRF seized 1,260 ampoules of tirzepatide, a weight loss medication with prohibited importation by Anvisa, from a 34-year-old man in the same region. Authorities noted a massive surge in the seizure of weight loss medications at the border, with numbers rising from 7,479 ampoules between May and December 2025 to 162,254 ampoules recorded so far in 2026.
