Brazil authorities target criminal faction assets and leaders
Brazilian law enforcement agencies are conducting coordinated operations to dismantle organized crime factions, specifically targeting the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV).
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security, through its Strategic Laboratory against Crime (LabCrim), has developed a new methodology to identify luxury real estate linked to these organizations. By cross-referencing judicial records, patrimonial data, and financial inconsistencies, authorities can locate assets registered to individuals without legitimate financial means. This method has already facilitated civil actions for asset forfeiture led by the Attorney General's Office (AGU), with a high concentration of identified properties in São Paulo, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul.
Simultaneously, the Civil Police of Mato Grosso have executed intelligence operations to capture high-ranking faction leaders hiding in luxury condominiums, coastal areas of Rio de Janeiro, and neighboring countries. Recent arrests include key figures located in Bolivia and Paraguay, such as Angelica Saraiva de Sá, who was apprehended in a luxury complex in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. These operations aim to disrupt the financial operations and command structures of criminal groups operating across state and international borders.
