Brazil auto market records highest July sales and production
In July 2026 Brazil sold 279,578 vehicles, a 14.9% rise over July 2025 and the strongest monthly sales in 12 years. Production reached 253,900 units, 5.9% above July 2025 and the best July in seven years. The surge is linked to expanded credit, the Carro Sustentável program and strong demand for Chinese brands, which together accounted for 23% of sales.
Bajaj recorded a record 3,371 motorcycles, up 40% from the previous year, while BYD’s Dolphin model led electric‑vehicle retail sales with 5,861 units. Seven automakers cut list prices by up to roughly 20% as competition from Chinese electric and hybrid models intensifies.
