Brazil automotive market: Hyundai leads SUV sales as Volkswagen boosts exports

In the Brazilian automotive market, the Hyundai Creta emerged as the leading SUV in sales through mid-August 2026, with 3,762 units sold, marking a 34.4% increase compared to July. Other top-selling SUVs include the Volkswagen Tera, BYD Song, and Volkswagen T-Cross.

Separately, Volkswagen do Brasil reported a significant export milestone, reaching 60,000 vehicles shipped to 25 international markets between January and July 2026. The Volkswagen Tera has been a primary driver of this growth, serving as the brand's most exported model with 21,404 units sent to 17 Latin American countries. Key export destinations include Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.
