Brazil banker Daniel Vorcaro resumes delação talks after rejected proposal

Negotiations are under way for a new plea‑deal agreement with Brazilian banker Daniel Vorcaro following the rejection of an earlier proposal by the Prosecutor‑General’s Office and the Federal Police. Investigators said the first draft omitted known facts, attempted to shield Senator Ciro Nogueira and other officials, and failed to address the full scope of the alleged fraud, which they estimate caused up to R$ 60 billion in losses.

Vorcaro’s defence has asked Supreme Court minister André Mendonça for additional time to prepare a revised submission, a request that was granted. The new proposal is expected to address earlier criticisms, including the proposed repayment of R$ 40 billion over ten years and questions about Vorcaro’s financial capacity after the liquidation of Banco Master. Vorcaro was briefly moved to a harsher detention cell after the first proposal’s dismissal but was later returned to his original cell, a move interpreted as a restart of the talks.
