Brazil banker Daniel Vorcaro's plea deal enters decisive week
Former banker Daniel Vorcaro is negotiating a plea‑bargain (colaboração premiada) with Brazil's Federal Police (PF) and the Attorney General's Office (PGR). After an initial proposal was rejected in May, a second, expanded dossier was submitted and is now under review. Authorities have requested clarifications and additional documentation, and a meeting between PF, PGR and Vorcaro’s lawyers is expected in the coming days. A special regime granting Vorcaro’s defense unrestricted daily visits ends this Friday, after which visits will revert to a 30‑minute limit.
Investigators say the material could implicate several public officials from the executive, legislative and judicial branches, naming Senator Ciro Nogueira, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and former Rio governor Cláudio Castro. The outcome may influence upcoming elections, while Vorcaro’s father is also under consideration for house arrest.
The negotiations are seen as a pivotal moment for Brazil’s political landscape and for the broader corruption probe known as Operation Compliance Zero.
