Brazil 2026 elections: Free electoral advertising begins FAST-MOVING
Free electoral advertising for the 2026 Brazilian elections begins this Friday on radio and television. Regulated by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the campaign period will run until October 1. The broadcasting schedule includes two 25-minute daily blocks: presidential and federal deputy candidates appear on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while candidates for governor, senator, and state deputy appear on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
New regulations strictly prohibit the use of artificial intelligence to create deepfakes that clone or alter the voice or image of real people to spread false or decontextualized statements. While AI use for graphic or audio processing is permitted, it requires explicit and accessible disclosure.
Simultaneously, presidential candidates are intensifying their campaigns through interviews, debates, and public appearances. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has emphasized his commitment to maintaining minimum wage increases above inflation. Renan Santos has advocated for the abolition of Labor Courts, and Ronaldo Caiado has pledged increased federal funding for the SUS healthcare system.
