Brazil Bill proposes linking rural credit to cattle traceability in the Amazon

A new legislative proposal, Bill 3233/26, seeks to link access to priority rural credit and agricultural insurance in the Legal Amazon to the individual traceability of cattle and buffalo. Currently under analysis in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, the bill aims to encourage producers to register and monitor their herds through official sanitary control systems.

Producers who comply with these traceability requirements could receive several economic incentives, including reduced interest rates, extended payment terms, increased financing limits, and higher government subsidies for rural insurance. The specific level of benefit would depend on the degree of integration with official systems, as determined by federal regulation.

The bill's author, Deputy Ricardo Ayres, stated that the initiative aims to reward legal operations by linking existing sanitary controls to economic incentives without requiring new administrative structures. If passed by both the Chamber and the Senate, the law would amend the existing legislation governing meat production chain traceability.
