Brazil blood centers issue urgent appeals due to low stocks

Blood donation centers in Brazil are issuing urgent appeals to the public due to critically low blood stocks.

In Santa Catarina, the Hematology and Hemotherapy Center (HEMOSC) reported alert levels for blood types O-, O+, and A-. Stocks for A+ and B- are also reduced. HEMOSC, which manages approximately 98% of blood collection and distribution in the state, emphasized the necessity of regular donations to maintain hospital supplies for emergencies and surgeries.

Additionally, the Pró-Sangue Foundation has also warned of low inventory levels and is calling for increased donor participation.
