Brazil boosts oral health access with new mobile dental units in Esperantina and Porto Velho

The federal Brazil Sorridente program has placed a mobile dental clinic in the municipality of Esperantina, Piauí, to serve riverine, quilombola and other remote communities. Mayor Tota do Francimar said the unit will bring preventive and treatment services directly to residents who face difficulties traveling to health centers.

In Porto Velho, Rondônia, the municipal health department received a similar mobile unit together with a set of endodontic instruments and the state’s first digital prosthesis production line for the public SUS system. The digital workflow includes an oral scanner, 3D printer, high‑performance computer and resin kits, enabling fully digital denture fabrication. Mayor Léo Moraes and Health Secretary Sandra Cardoso highlighted that the equipment will modernize care, reduce treatment time and extend dental services to distant districts and riverine areas.
