Brazil's 2027 Women’s World Cup projected to inject R$8.8 billion into economy
A study by Fundação Getulio Vargas for Embratur estimates that the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, to be hosted by Brazil from 24 June to 25 July across eight cities, will generate roughly R$8.8 billion in economic activity. The impact is split between tourist spending (about R$4.7 billion) and FIFA‑related organisational outlays (about R$4.1 billion). The event is expected to create around 73,700 jobs, produce R$4.5 billion in wages and generate R$928 million in tax revenue. Women already account for 48.6 % of international tourists to Brazil, staying an average of 11 days and spending US$1,317 per trip, indicating strong consumer demand.
The tournament was a central topic at the Confut USA football conference in Newark, New Jersey, where the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) took part. EBC director‑president Antonia Pellegrino moderated two panels on the global impact of women’s football and on Brazil’s tourism and visibility opportunities linked to the 2027 World Cup. Speakers included representatives from the No More foundation, Petrobras and the Indonesian Football Association.
