Brazil car market posts strong July sales, Rio Grande do Sul hits best half‑year since 2019

July 2026 national vehicle registrations in Brazil showed the Volkswagen Polo as the best‑selling model with 2,448 units, a 35.7% decline from June. The Hyundai Creta came second with 2,439 units, up 26.7%, while the VW T‑Cross held third place with 2,398 units, down 41.3%. The consolidated data point to a market of over 200,000 units for the month.

In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, 89,144 zero‑kilometre vehicles were registered in the first half of 2026, the strongest performance since 2019 and a 2.65% increase over the same period a year earlier. Sales from January to June rose 130% to 13,560 units, driven by electric vehicles (7,702) surpassing hybrids (5,858). The BYD Dolphin Mini was the second‑best seller in the state with 2,216 units, just behind the GM Tracker. In June, electrified cars accounted for about 34% of the state's automobile sales, compared with roughly 20% nationally.
