Brazil Catholic Church Announces 2026 National Family Week During Vocational Month
The Brazilian Conference of Bishops (CNBB) has called on all dioceses to celebrate a dedicated Vocational Month, emphasizing the pastoral role of families. 2026 will feature a National Family Week, marking the 45th anniversary of the 1980 document Familiaris Consortio and the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ Amoris Laetitia. The theme, “Family, become what you are,” and the motto “Love never ends” guide a series of events including diocesan retreats, formation weeks, missionary actions by seminarians, a book launch, and honors for those serving the Church.
The initiative also highlights the particular challenges faced by families in the Amazon region—remote locations, limited access to services, territorial threats, climate impacts and violence. Drawing on Pope Francis’ integral ecology, the Church urges solidarity, protection of territories, and a broader commitment to the common good, linking family life with ecological and social responsibility.
