Brazil cattle industry adopts reproductive technologies amid market shifts
The Brazilian cattle industry is seeing increased adoption of Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination (IATF), which now reaches approximately 26% of beef females. Data from INDEX ASBIA 2025 indicates that artificial insemination techniques have reached 81.3% of Brazilian municipalities.
Experts note that successful IATF results depend on factors beyond hormonal protocols, including nutritional status, sanitary conditions, bull fertility, and the technical execution of the procedure. Preparation for a successful reproductive season often begins months in advance, starting at the weaning stage.
Market conditions, including rising calf prices and a lower supply of females, are expected to influence ranching strategies for the late 2026 breeding season. These economic factors may encourage producers to invest more heavily in reproductive technologies such as embryo transfer and IATF to maximize pregnancy rates and retain more females within their herds.
