Brazil celebrates Aviator Day and 120 years of the 14-Bis flight

Brazil is marking Aviator Day and the 120th anniversary of Alberto Santos Dumont’s historic 14-Bis flight. The anniversary commemorates the 1906 flight in Paris, which marked the first successful takeoff of a heavier-than-air aircraft using its own power.

In Paraná, celebrations were held at the Second Integrated Air Defense and Air Traffic Control Center (Cindacta II) in Curitiba. Vice-Governor Darci Piana attended the ceremony, noting the strategic importance of Cindacta II, which manages approximately 30% to 40% of Brazilian airspace, including regions in the South, Mato Grosso do Sul, and parts of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo.

Additionally, FUMEC University is hosting its 13th Lecture Cycle, titled “Pilot Profession,” from October 26 to 28. The event features aviation professionals discussing various career paths, including commercial piloting, rotary-wing aircraft, international airline challenges, and military aviation with the Brazilian Air Force.
