Brazil celebrates Brazilian Composer's Day

On October 7, Brazil celebrates Brazilian Composer's Day, a date officially established in 1983 to honor the professionals who transform emotions and ideas into music.

The longevity of great compositions is highlighted by the song ‘Sem Radar’, written by Marcus Menna. Originally released in 2003 by the pop-rock group LS Jack, the track has crossed generational boundaries. Most recently, in 2024, the song gained new life through a rendition by sertanejo artist Gusttavo Lima in his ‘Embaixador Acústico’ project.

Other notable examples of songs that achieved massive success through different interpreters include ‘Evidências’, composed by José Augusto and Paulo Sérgio Valle but popularized by Chitãozinho & Xororó; ‘Malandragem’, written by Cazuza and Frejat and famously performed by Cássia Eller; and ‘Como Nossos Pais’, written by Belchior and immortalized by Elis Regina.
