Brazil celebrates Cinema Day with palace tours and Netflix film guide

On June 19, the Directorate of Culture of Alerj opened a guided tour of the historic Palácio Tiradentes in Rio de Janeiro to mark Dia do Cinema Brasileiro. The tour highlighted more than 25 national film, series, telenovela and documentary productions filmed in the building over the past 25 years. Alerj director Fernanda Figueiredo said, “Cinema brings the public closer to historic facts and helps preserve cultural heritage.” State deputy Munir Neto added that the palace serves as a “living set” for Brazilian cinema.

At the same time, Netflix released a curated list of 25 Brazilian movies available on its platform, showcasing works from all five regions of the country. The selection includes recent titles such as the dystopian Amazon‑set *O Último Azul* and the 1970s‑era thriller *O Agente Secreto*, as well as classics like *A Hora da Estrela* and documentaries such as *Democracia em Vertigem*.

Both initiatives aim to promote Brazilian cinema, educate audiences about the nation’s cultural history, and increase visibility of local productions worldwide.
