Brazil celebrates public servants and school meal workers

Various regions in Brazil are holding events to honor public servants and school meal workers (merendeiras) around the holidays of Public Servant Day and School Meal Worker Day.

In Campo Grande, the municipal education network highlighted the story of Luzia de Alcântara Santana, a visually impaired worker who promotes inclusion through her role at a local school. In Paraná, the state recognized approximately 7,900 professionals who prepare 1.5 million meals daily for 1 million students, noting investments in culinary training and food acquisition.

In Belém, municipal investments in school meals are set to increase from R$ 30 million in 2025 to R$ 110 million in 2026. Other local celebrations include tributes to retired teachers in Dores de Campos, municipal servant awards in Londrina, and health and wellness initiatives for civil servants in Acre and at the Humap-UFMS hospital in Mato Grosso do Sul.
