Brazil celebrates Truck Driver Day with economic and safety initiatives

September 16 marks Truck Driver Day in Brazil, highlighting the sector's historical role in national integration and economic expansion. According to the Fundação Memória do Transporte (FuMTran), truck drivers have been essential in connecting production regions, industrial centers, and ports to consumer markets, supporting major economic cycles such as industrialization and the expansion of agribusiness.

To commemorate the date, Triunfo Transbrasiliana held a special edition of its ‘Juntos pela Vida’ program at Posto Macedão on the BR-153/SP highway. The initiative provided approximately 60 drivers with road safety education, including accident prevention and vehicle maintenance guidance.

The event also integrated the ‘Na Mão Certa’ program by Childhood Brasil, which focuses on combating the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents on Brazilian highways. Participants were briefed on identifying suspicious situations and using the anonymous ‘Disque 100’ reporting channel.
