Brazil Ministry of Social Security seeks to automate benefit implementation

The Brazilian Ministry of Social Security is seeking a technological solution through Dataprev and the INSS to automate the implementation of favorable decisions made by the Social Security Appeals Council (CRPS). Currently, approximately 336,800 processes have been decided in favor of beneficiaries, but many await manual implementation, with the average conclusion phase taking 130 days. Minister Wolney Queiroz stated that the delay often forces citizens to seek judicial intervention because the administrative victory is not being realized promptly.

In related legislative developments, the Chamber of Deputies has approved a bill to create 'consignado rent,' allowing a portion of a tenant's salary (up to 30%) to serve as a guarantee, potentially eliminating the need for guarantors. Additionally, a bill is under analysis that seeks to eliminate credit card margins for INSS retirees and pensioners to combat over-indebtedness, redirecting the 45% income limit exclusively to conventional loans and financing.

Regarding consumer misinformation, officials clarified that rumors of a 30% discount on new vehicles for INSS retirees are false; such a benefit remains a stalled legislative proposal (Bill 2.937/2020) and is not currently law.
