Brazil charity bazaars support cancer patients in Petrópolis and Campo Grande

The Associação Petropolitana dos Pacientes Oncológicos (APPO) is holding its autumn‑winter bazaar in Petrópolis until Friday, 24 August. The event, run from two sites on Rua Visconde da Penha and Rua do Imperador, offers clothes, bags, shoes and accessories at discounts of up to 50 % and accepts cash, PIX and card payments. Proceeds help cover the rent of the Casa de Apoio and sustain APPO’s thirty‑year‑old services for adult oncology patients.

In Campo Grande, the Associação dos Amigos das Crianças com Câncer de Mato Grosso do Sul (AACC/MS) will host the Feirão do Cincão on 6–7 August. More than 7,000 donated items—including clothing, toys, furniture and electronics—will be sold for R$5 each, with a 30 % discount on additional bazaar and thrift‑shop purchases. All revenue funds free treatment, accommodation and support for pediatric cancer patients and will also finance repairs to the institution’s Casa de Apoio. The organization manages a monthly operating budget of roughly R$400 000.

Both bazaars rely on volunteer sorting and aim to combine low‑cost shopping with fundraising for cancer‑care services.
