Brazil clarifies Perse tax benefit deadline for event sector
The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service has clarified the expiration of tax benefits under the Emergency Program for the Recovery of the Events Sector (Perse) for companies under the presumed profit regime. According to Consultation Solution Cosit No. 155/2026, eligible companies could apply a zero rate for IRPJ, CSLL, PIS/Pasep, and Cofins on revenues directly related to event activities until March 2025.
The clarification notes that the benefit was terminated starting in April 2025 after reaching the R$ 15 billion limit for tax expenditures established by law. Additionally, companies that opted for the real profit regime in 2024 could choose the presumed profit regime in 2025, provided they formalized the choice through their first IRPJ payment, allowing them to maintain Perse benefits until the March 2025 deadline.
