Brazil: CNBB supports Lula while calling for focus on the poor

The National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) has issued a public statement congratulating President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his reelection. While offering recognition, the CNBB emphasized that the administration must prioritize the protection and service of vulnerable populations.

The religious organization called for public policies and civil society actions to center human dignity and social justice. The CNBB urged institutions and donors to align their efforts with practices that reduce inequality and ensure access to basic services for those in fragile situations.
