Brazil national team announces squad for friendlies with major youth focus

Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced a 26-man squad for upcoming international friendlies against Australia and India, signaling a major generational shift following the team's exit from the 2026 World Cup.

The new roster features eight debutants, including Breno Bidon, Gabriel Bontempo, Arthur Dias, and goalkeeper Pedro Morisco. Ancelotti's strategy prioritizes youth to build toward the 2030 World Cup, resulting in the exclusion of several veteran stars such as Neymar, Alisson, Casemiro, and Fabinho.

While the squad includes nine players from the previous World Cup cycle—such as Vinícius Júnior, Marquinhos, and Bruno Guimarães—to provide stability, the emphasis remains on integrating new talent. Ten players in the squad currently compete in the Brazilian domestic league. The upcoming matches are scheduled for late September and early October in Australia and India.
