Brazil advances R$ 30 billion transport credit and US$ 1 billion sustainability loan

The Brazilian Congress has advanced significant financial measures to support transport workers and national sustainability. The Senate approved a provisional measure (MP 1366/2026) that allocates up to R$ 30 billion for vehicle financing through the Move Brasil program. This credit is intended for app drivers, taxi drivers, cooperatives, and school transport professionals. The program allows for flexible payment terms of up to 84 months and has increased the vehicle value ceiling from R$ 150,000 to R$ 200,000, including hybrid models. Financial management will be handled by the Ministry of Finance with BNDES, Banco do Brasil, and Caixa Econômica Federal acting as agents.

Separately, the Economic Affairs Commission authorized a US$ 1 billion loan from the World Bank (IBRD) to support Brazil's fiscal, environmental, and social policies. This funding, part of the Program for Productive, Sustainable, and Inclusive Growth, aims to improve the tax system, promote climate action, and strengthen social inclusion. The loan features a five-year grace period and an amortization period of up to 19 years.
