Brazil confirms Bolsa Família continuity and lands deal for 5,700 families

The Brazilian government, through the Attorney General's Office (AGU) and the Public Defender's Office (DPU), secured the continuation of Bolsa Família payments for all families awaiting the analysis of the Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC). The arrangement, signed with the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and the Ministry of Development and Assistance, keeps the cash benefit active until a BPC decision is made, preventing any interruption of support for vulnerable households.

In a separate fiscal initiative, AGU and the Attorney General of the National Treasury (PGFN) concluded a tax transaction with the João Santos Group that will transfer 72,505.69 hectares of land to 5,792 families for agrarian reform. The lands will create 33 new rural settlements—31 in Maranhão and two in Paraíba—under the Programa Terra da Gente. The deal settles federal debts, revitalises the indebted company, and expands land access for families registered in CadÚnico, advancing productive inclusion and social justice.
