The online outcry coincided with key moments – the bill’s urgent submission on 15 April, Labour Day on 1 May, the Chamber vote on 20 May and a backlash on 21 May – and helped shape the political environment that led the Chamber of Deputies to approve the constitutional amendment on 27 May. The amendment reduces the weekly workweek from 44 to 42 hours within 60 days and to 40 hours by 2027, instituting a 5‑day‑on/2‑day‑off schedule without wage cuts. The study also noted that seven Bahia deputies withdrew their signatures on the amendment after negative online reaction. The Senate now prepares to vote on the measure, with expectations that digital pressure will continue to influence legislators.
