Brazil: Content creator targeted in smartphone theft and bank fraud

A content creator in Brazil was targeted by thieves while stuck in traffic, resulting in the theft of her iPhone and subsequent financial fraud. The perpetrator reached into her vehicle and snatched the device in approximately one second.

Following the theft, the victim discovered that funds had been transferred out of her bank account. Notably, the perpetrators reportedly managed to bypass security measures despite not having her password, PIN, or access to facial recognition technology.

This incident highlights a growing criminal trend in Brazil, where gangs exploit traffic congestion to target drivers. Criminals often reach into or break car windows to steal smartphones, which provides them with immediate access to sensitive personal data and mobile banking services.
