Brazil Court Accepts Charges Against Woman in Businessman's Death
The Court of Justice of Santa Catarina has accepted a complaint from the Public Ministry against the partner of businessman Carlo Fabio Tomelin. She is accused of qualified homicide with eventual intent regarding his death in Indaial.
The incident occurred following a disagreement between the couple. According to the prosecution, while the victim was clinging to the side step of the vehicle to prevent the woman from leaving, she drove abruptly through the streets. This maneuver caused Tomelin to fall, resulting in a traumatic brain injury that led to his death.
While the Civil Police investigation initially concluded that no crime had been committed, the Public Ministry's charges contend otherwise. The accused will now be summoned to present her defense, after which the court will determine if the case will proceed to a jury trial.
