Brazil court orders man to reimburse INSS for mother's pension

The Federal Court of Carazinho has ordered a 25-year-old man to reimburse the Brazilian Social Security Institute (INSS) for all pension payments issued following the death of his mother, who was a victim of femicide.

Judge Adriana Liberalesso da Silva ruled that the defendant must repay all funds already disbursed to the victim's partner, as well as any future installments. The INSS argued that these expenses were incurred solely due to the crime committed by the son.

Evidence presented to the court included bloodstains at the residence, the defendant's admission regarding the location of the body, and a medical report confirming death by strangulation. The defendant, who is currently held in the Cruz Alta State Prison, may appeal the decision to the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF4).
