Jeander Silva Braga sentenced to 22 years for killing actor Jeff Machado

A Rio de Janeiro court sentenced construction worker Jeander Vinícius Silva Braga to 22 years and 9 months in a closed‑regime prison for the triple‑qualified murder of actor Jeff Machado. The Conviction also includes charges of concealing the corpse and animal cruelty after he abandoned eight of Machado’s dogs, two of which died.

Co‑accused television producer Bruno de Souza Rodrigues, who allegedly lured Machado with a promised TV contract and extorted 18,000 reais, is set to stand trial on Dec 10. According to the prosecution, Rodrigues and Braga drugged Machado on 23 January 2023, strangled him with a cellphone cable, placed his body in a trunk, moved it to a rented quitinete in Campo Grande, and buried it in a two‑metre‑deep hole that they later cemented. The presiding judge noted the seriousness of the offenses and the risk they pose to the community.
