Brazil CPF issues impact driver licenses and fraud‑alert services
The integration of state traffic departments (Detrans) with the Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) now uses the CPF as a primary identifier. An irregular CPF does not automatically suspend a driver’s licence (CNH), but it can block specific services such as licence renewal, issuance of a second copy, category changes or personal data updates until the registration is corrected.
When a Brazilian loses an RG or CPF, the Serasa and SPC Brasil services allow the holder to register a free document‑alert. The alert records the loss or theft in their databases, so companies that query these sources before granting credit or opening accounts receive a warning and can apply additional identity checks. Users are advised to file a police report, request a second‑copy document, and monitor their CPF activity for unauthorized use.
