Brazil cruise season projected to generate R$ 1.5 billion

The 2026/2027 cruise season in Brazil, set to begin on November 6, is projected to inject approximately R$ 1.5 billion into the regional economy. According to studies by the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), the season is expected to generate about 6,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In Santos, the Giusfredo Santini Maritime Passenger Terminal (Concais) anticipates receiving roughly 913,000 passengers over 97 days of operation. This includes 414,000 embarkations and 404,000 disembarkations, alongside 95,000 transit passengers. The influx is expected to boost local commerce and the hotel industry as travelers often arrive in the city days before departure.

Looking further ahead, MSC Cruzeiros has announced its 2027/2028 programming, which will feature five ships in South American waters. A highlight of that season will be the debut of the MSC Meraviglia in Brazilian waters, which will replace the MSC Seaview. The upcoming season will also see the debut of the Buenavista, a vessel from the Spanish company Corazul Cruceros.
