Brazil dairy sector launches multibillion‑real‑R$ 1.37 bn CAPEX program and new university research centre

A major private investment programme in Brazil’s dairy industry was disclosed, amounting to roughly R$ 1.372 billion. The CAPEX plan, validated by InduXdata, groups three blocks of spending that together target new food‑processing units, animal nutrition facilities, shared utilities, industrial refrigeration, automation, energy infrastructure and civil construction. The first block alone earmarks about R$ 200 million for new production lines and utilities, while additional blocks add roughly R$ 500 million and R$ 672 million for expansion and modernization.

Separately, the University of São Paulo (Unesp) inaugurated the Advanced Research and Innovation Centre for Dairy Boviniculture (CAPID‑Leite) in Botucatu. Funded with R$ 4.7 million from the university’s rectorate, the centre houses robotic milking systems, photovoltaic panels and facilities for up to 60 cows. Researchers will use the site to study sustainable and animal‑welfare‑focused dairy production, including silvopastoral systems that integrate trees, pasture and cattle.

Both initiatives underscore a growing emphasis on modernising Brazil’s dairy supply chain, improving environmental performance and enhancing animal welfare while expanding production capacity.
