Brazil dismantles transnational human trafficking network

The Brazilian Federal Police, in cooperation with French authorities, have dismantled a transnational human trafficking network operating under the name ‘Operation El Dorado’. The organization was responsible for recruiting women in Brazil and transporting them to southern France for sexual exploitation.

Investigators executed six search warrants in the municipalities of São Bernardo do Campo and São Vicente in the state of São Paulo. The criminal group allegedly facilitated the movement of victims by providing travel documents, tickets, and accommodation, while also managing advertisements abroad.

As part of the judicial response, the Federal Court of São Paulo imposed precautionary measures against three suspects. This includes the seizure of approximately 10 million reais (nearly 2 million USD) in assets, bank accounts, and companies. The suspects are also required to surrender their passports and wear electronic monitoring anklets.
