Brazil domestic airfares drop 5.2% in July amid rising fuel costs

In July, domestic airfares in Brazil decreased by 5.2% compared to the same month in 2025 when adjusted for inflation, according to Anac. The average price dropped from R$ 742.06 to R$ 703.47. Among major airlines, Azul saw the largest decrease of 18.5%, while Latam prices fell by 3.4%. Conversely, Gol experienced a 2.5% increase in average ticket prices.

Despite lower passenger costs, aviation fuel (QAV) prices rose by approximately 35.1%, increasing from R$ 3.62 to R$ 4.89 per liter due to international oil market pressures. Total passenger movement reached 11.9 million, with domestic and international flights seeing growth of 1.9% and 4.2%, respectively.

In contrast to the fluctuations in aviation, bus travel remained more stable. According to the ClickBus Road Index, average bus fares rose by 5.1% year-over-year in July. While diesel costs increased by 14%, bus companies absorbed much of the operational pressure to maintain affordability during the peak holiday season.
