Cuba thanks Brazil for 48‑ton milk powder donation

Cuban President Miguel Díaz‑Canel posted on X to thank Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for a humanitarian aid shipment of milk powder. Brazil sent a total of 48 tonnes, with the first 16‑ton load arriving on 14 July at Antonio Maceo International Airport in Santiago de Cuba. The donation, coordinated by Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and agencies such as the Brazilian Cooperation Agency and Conab, will be distributed primarily to children in the eastern provinces of Santiago and Guantánamo. The official hand‑over was carried out by Brazilian ambassador Christian Vargas, who gave the cargo to Cuban Vice‑Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade Oscar Pérez‑Oliva. Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero also praised the aid, saying Cuba “is not alone” amid the U.S. blockade and fuel restrictions that have deepened food shortages. Díaz‑Canel wrote, “Our deepest gratitude to brother President Lula and his noble people for the valuable donation of milk powder.”
