Brazil educational updates: Piên infrastructure and Piauí tech integration

In Piên, the municipal government has implemented several infrastructure improvements for the public school system. These investments include R$ 72,000 for air conditioning in all classrooms, with the exception of CMEI Raio de Sol, which will receive climate control in its new building currently under construction. Additionally, the administration has expanded childcare capacity at CMEI Tia Nena by purchasing essential equipment and has installed new playgrounds and recreational structures at both CMEI Tia Nena and Escola Municipal Marciano de Carvalho.

In the state of Piauí, the government led by Rafael Fonteles is integrating Big Tech tools into the public education system. Through investments exceeding R$ 90 million, the state has established “Google rooms” in schools across Teresina, Regeneração, and Amarante. These classrooms feature Google-branded furniture and equipment, such as Chromebooks, and emphasize the use of Google’s Gemini AI. Critics note that these multimillion-real contracts with multinational technology companies are increasing the educational system's dependency on private tech giants.
