Brazil egg consumption projected to hit record in 2026

Egg consumption in Brazil is projected to reach a new record of 301 units per inhabitant in 2026, according to forecasts from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). This would represent a 4.5% increase from the 288 units recorded in 2025.

This growth reflects a significant shift in the Brazilian diet over the last 15 years. In 2010, average consumption was approximately 148.85 eggs per person, meaning consumption has nearly doubled since then. To meet this demand, ABPA estimates that Brazil's production will rise to 64.8 billion eggs in 2026, a 4.1% increase over 2025 levels.

Data from Worldpanel by Numerator indicates that eggs are now present in half of all protein-based breakfast dishes. While eggs appear in 16.2% of all daily meal occasions—ranking behind beef and chicken—the category has seen specific growth during breakfast hours.
