Brazil 2026 elections: PL and PT lead in private campaign donations

Data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) regarding the 2026 Brazilian elections shows that the Liberal Party (PL) and the Workers' Party (PT) lead in private individual donations. The PL has received R$ 49.2 million from 4,602 donors, while the PT has the highest number of contributors with 7,251 donors totaling R$ 34.6 million.

In the presidential race, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) leads with R$ 2.9 million in declared donations, followed by Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) with R$ 2.5 million and Renan Santos (Missão) with R$ 2.2 million. Lula (PT) has registered R$ 1.4 million. Notably, businessman Erasmo Carlos Battistella, CEO of Be8, donated R$ 500,000 to both Flávio Bolsonaro and Lula.

Overall, individual donations for the 2026 cycle total R$ 299.6 million, representing 6% of total campaign revenue. The vast majority of campaign funding—approximately 90% or R$ 4.8 billion—is provided through public electoral and party funds. Other significant trends include R$ 74.9 million in private funds being directed to parties rather than directly to candidates, and R$ 85.2 million in self-financing by 3,827 candidates.
