Brazil elections conclude in Portugal as UAE investigates cockpit attack
Polling stations in Portugal have closed for the Brazilian presidential elections. Approximately 140,000 Brazilian voters were registered in Portugal, marking a more than 60% increase compared to the 2022 elections. The University of Lisbon served as the primary voting hub, hosting roughly 79,000 registered voters.
In a separate international incident, authorities in the United Arab Emirates are investigating a potential terrorist act involving a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The UAE Attorney General stated that a 29-year-old Omani co-pilot, Hamam Al-Hamami, allegedly attacked the pilot in the cockpit using an emergency axe. Investigations suggest the suspect may have intended to crash the aircraft in Israel. Reports indicate Al-Hamami had previously been flagged by Oman Air for possessing extremist material, which led to a reassignment to an administrative role before the incident.
