Brazil Electoral Court launches online fake‑news alert platform for 2026 elections
The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has introduced the Electoral Disinformation Alert System (Siade), an online tool that allows any citizen to report false, misleading or AI‑generated content related to the electoral process. The system, already available on the Amazon state court’s website and the TSE portal, is linked to the Committee for Combating Disinformation (CED) of the Amazonas Regional Electoral Court. Judge Monica Câmara, head of the CED, said the platform helps identify and address threats to the legitimacy of elections more quickly.
Reported alerts are examined by technical staff, who add contextual information, forward verified cases to digital platforms for possible removal, and refer criminal indications to the appropriate authorities. In parallel, the TSE has updated rules for the upcoming 2026 elections, mandating clear labeling of AI‑generated or deep‑fake content, restricting mass political messaging, and allowing paid content promotion only when properly identified and registered with the electoral justice system.
