Brazil electric vehicle fleet surpasses 1 million units

Brazil's electrified vehicle fleet has exceeded 1 million units, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles (ABVE). As of September, the cumulative fleet since 2012 reached 1,003,310 units, with 53,126 registrations in the last month alone, accounting for approximately 19.8% of the Brazilian light vehicle market.

This growth has driven a significant expansion in charging infrastructure. The number of public and semi-public charging points reached 29,866 in September, a 17.45% increase from June. Over a twelve-month period ending in September, the network grew by 76.9%, adding 12,986 points.

There is a notable shift toward faster charging capabilities. While slow alternating current (AC) charging points increased by 41.8%, direct current (DC) fast-charging points saw a 195.6% surge, nearly tripling in volume. Fast charging now represents 38.2% of the total charging network, up from 22.8% the previous year, reflecting a need for reduced stop times and improved highway mobility.
