Brazil electrified vehicle market surpasses 1 million sales

The Brazilian electrified vehicle market has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 1 million light vehicle sales since 2012. According to data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), 381,609 electrified vehicles were registered between January and September 2026.

In September 2026 alone, electrified models accounted for 19.8% of light vehicle sales in Brazil, a substantial increase from the 9.2% recorded in the same month of 2025. This growth is driven by an expanding product offering and increased consumer demand for alternatives to fossil fuel-based engines.

Regional data shows significant activity in states like Mato Grosso, which saw a 202% increase in electric vehicle registrations compared to the same period in 2025. In Goiás, Goiânia remains a key hub, concentrating over half of the state's electrified vehicle sales.
