Brazil emergency services conduct two separate rescues
Two separate rescue operations were conducted in Brazil involving individuals in critical conditions.
In Witmarsum, Santa Catarina, a 68-year-old man was rescued from a pickup truck that overturned and became partially submerged in a river. The vehicle had fallen approximately seven meters down a slope. Military police and local volunteers worked to stabilize the vehicle against the current and break the glass to reach the driver, who had been trapped since the early morning. The victim, suffering from extreme weakness and hypothermia, was transported to a hospital in Ibirama.
In Roraima, a 62-year-old miner was rescued from the Yanomami Indigenous Land after falling ill in a remote mining area. The man had been unable to eat for several days and was suffering from abdominal pain due to an infection. An integrated operation involving the Military Fire Department, Military Police, the National Public Security Force, and state representatives utilized an aircraft to reach the location. The man was found conscious and oriented and was successfully evacuated from the region.
