Brazil emerges as key player in global rare earth minerals race
Brazil is increasingly central to the global effort to diversify rare earth mineral supply chains away from Chinese dominance. Significant industry transactions totaling approximately $3.5 billion have highlighted the country's mineral potential.
Key developments include USA Rare Earth's combination with Brazilian producer Serra Verde in a deal valued at roughly $2.8 billion, aimed at developing processing and magnet manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, Australia's Lynas Rare Earths announced a $672 million agreement to acquire Meteoric Resources, granting access to the Caldeira rare earth project.
In the Minas Gerais state, Perpetual Resources is planning resource definition drilling at its Raptor project within the Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex. This follows increased interest in the Caldeira district, where previous drilling has yielded high grades, including intersections of up to 5591ppm TREO.
