Brazil emerges as second‑most searched travel destination in the Americas

A study by Amadeus and UNWTO shows Brazil ranked second after the United States in international travel searches in the Americas, with a 29% rise in query volume from May 2025 to April 2026. Bookings for Brazil grew 6% through global distribution systems, while overall passenger traffic in South America increased 5.5%, outpacing the continent’s average of 0.8%. The surge is driven mainly by travelers from the United States, Canada, Japan and the Philippines, according to Embratur president Bruno Reis.

At the same time, the Southern Hemisphere winter season is boosting tourism in Argentina and Chile. Argentine Patagonia’s Bariloche and the Cerro Catedral ski area, as well as Chile’s Valle Nevado resort, are attracting Brazilian and other South‑American visitors seeking snow sports, alpine scenery and related hospitality services. Industry executives highlight the region’s proximity, diverse attractions and established infrastructure as key factors behind the growing winter‑tourism market.
